Kenny Jackett has told the Express and Star that he has faith in Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Jack Price.
The 23-year-old was included in Wolves’ starting line-up in their 2-1 defeat to Preston North End, with Kevin McDonald dropping to the bench.
And Jackett has stuck by his decision to bring Price back into his midfield, suggesting that he is a player who will never let him down.
“I felt Jack Price just edged McDonald, there’s no other reason than that," Jackett said.
“For that three-man midfield my selection was that I wanted to play Price, have a look at Price in that particular role.
“I think he did fine. The big thing about Jack Price is he’s a very consistent player. And he’s a very consistent person.
“He’ll never let you down.”
McDonald had been a central figure in Wolves’ starting line-up prior to his withdrawal last weekend.
The change shows just how hard Jackett is searching to find the winning formula at Molineux, with his side struggling to live up to expectations this season.
Wolves were tipped to be amongst the leading contenders for promotion this season, but they are currently languishing in 12th place and they are some way behind the play off spaces.
Price has made 18 appearances for Wolves so far this season, and it remains to be seen whether he will stay in Jackett’s line-up for their match against Huddersfield Town at the weekend.
