Cohen put pen to paper on a new one-year deal at the City Ground earlier today, putting any speculation over his future to bed.
Cohen’s current deal was due to expire in the summer, but he is now set to stay with the Reds until 2017, at a minimum.
And Gardner, who is currently on loan at Forest from Aston Villa, was delighted that the 28-year-old was offered a new contract.
Congrats to Chris Cohen fully deserved mate!!— Gary Gardner (@22Gards) February 17, 2016
Cohen has been at Forest since 2007, meaning that his new contract will ensure that he gets a testimonial with the Midlands club.
The central midfielder has become an extremely popular figure at the City Ground, but his time with the Reds has been plagued by injury.
Cohen has suffered three serious knee injuries during recent years, yet he has recently made a comeback and has managed to play four times for Dougie Freedman’s side so far this season.
Forest also announced that hot prospect Oliver Burke has signed a new four and a half year deal with them earlier today.
