The England international still knows where the goal is.
Derby County's under-21s were in action last night against their Blackburn Rovers counterparts and won the game comfortably in style.
They won the game 3-0 and had some interesting names in the starting XI. January signing Nick Blackman, who has struggled to replicate his best Reading form at the iPro Stadium, featured from the start as did forgotten striker Darren Bent.
The former England international has not been used often in recent weeks and was given a chance to shine with the younger players.
He might have taken his chance.
Bent scored with a header in the ninth minute - with Ivan Calero and Shaquille McDonald bagging the other goals.
So should Bent get a first-team recall?
Derby are currently in a poor run of form and perhaps bringing Bent in from the cold might be the answer. Certainly that was the thinking from many Derby fans on Twitter - who feel the striker deserves another shot at the first-team.
Of course others are less than favourable to that idea - suggesting Bent's time at Derby County is up and to bring him in now would be a mistake.
Here is some of the best reaction to Bent's under-21 performance...
This Darren Bent frenzy is probably as depressing as anything else at #DCFC at the moment. He's 2 stone overweight and 2 years past it.— Dom T (@DomT77) February 17, 2016
