Daniel Levy’s response when asked about Pochettino contract extension

Tottenham fans believe Mauricio Pochettino should be sighed to a new contract.

Quoted by the official Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust website, Daniel Levy has responded when asked whether Mauricio Pochettino is in line to earn a new contract at White Hart Lane.

Published in the Minutes of the Board to Board meeting on February 10, the conversation went as follows: “THST asked when MP [Pochettino] would be rewarded with a new contract? DL [Levy] replied there are 3.5 years left on the current one at this stage.”

Whilst a non committal answer, Levy’s comments certainly sound as if he is not worried that Pochettino will be leaving Spurs any time soon.

There have been reports, notably by the Independent, which claim that Manchester United are lining up a move for Pochettino at the end of this season.

They believe the young manager can revitalise their fortunes on the pitch, having seen him work wonders with Spurs.

Pochettino has built a young and exciting team, favouring a homegrown core of players, with key defensive priories capped with some amazing attacking play.

The Lilywhites are arguably the most well rounded team in the Premier League, and it is not a surprise that Pochettino is wanted at Old Trafford.

Due to this, Spurs fans want to see Pochettino tied down to a longer contract, but Levy has made it apparent that there have been no talks for a new deal as of yet, with three-and-a-half years left on the head coach’s current stay at White Hart Lane.
