The Norwegian is not sure Matip will cope physically in the Premier League.
The deal has been talked about for some time and it could work out to be a real bargain for the club, as he will cost them nothing.
Bit his signature is being met with scepticism from German football expert Jan Aage Fjortoft.
He tweeted earlier this week:
Matip likes to have the ball. Good passer. Is he strong enough 1 against 1? Kind of defender I loved to play against https://t.co/ig5cMsXQKW— Jan Aage Fjortoft (@JanAageFjortoft) February 15, 2016
The Norwegian, who played in the Premier League with Barnsley, is known as the man who ‘broke’ the Mesut Ozil to Arsenal story. He now works as a pundit on German television and therefore knows thing or two about the Cameroonian.
The former striker, who played quite a physical game, is clearly not sure he would be able to stand up to such a challenge.
That will not be good for Liverpool. Matip is a top talent but if he can not stand up to a battle he may find it hard to thrive in the Premier League.
