The former Spurs player and manager is impressed by the club's defence.
Tottenham Hotspur confirmed their status as a title contender at the weekend with a crucial 2-1 win against Manchester City at the weekend.
Christian Eriksen's goal gave Spurs the win after Harry Kane's controversial penalty had been cancelled out by Kelechi Iheanacho.
It was a win that keeps them in the chase with Leicester City at the top of the table, after The Foxes lost to rivals Arsenal on a truly Super Sunday.
One former Tottenham legend has now been speaking about what is surprising about Spurs this season - their excellent goal difference.
Speaking to Unibet yesterday Hoddle, who played for Spurs for 12 years and also managed the club in the early 2000s, he stated:
“But the key for me, which is strange for Tottenham, is that they’re not conceding goals. I think they’ve got the best goal difference in the top four.
"That’s going to be a real key as well.
“So yes, they’re very much in the hunt and it’s a great opportunity for Spurs like never before.”
He makes a good point. Spurs have been known in the past for perhaps being a bit leaky in defence and that has often seen them out of sync on the goal difference.
However their consistent form and the addition of Toby Alderweireld at the back has helped Spurs to a fantastic goal difference of +27, after conceding just 20 goals in the league this season.
That is seven goals better than the second best Manchester City - which is a fantastic advantage for Spurs to have in the hunt for the title.
If they can continue to be strong at the back there is no reason why they cannot win the title.
