SkySports pundit Peter Beagrie raves about Souleymane Doukara's performance

Souleymane Doukara stood out for Leeds United against Middlesbrough.

Souleymane Doukara was one of the more eye catching performers for Leeds United as they drew 0-0 against Middlesbrough.

Doukara nearly scored a second half header only to be denied by an outstanding save from Dimi Konstatopolous, and also had a 94th minute shot blocked by the goalkeeper.

The striker impressed SkySports pundit Peter Beagrie, who told the channel's live broadcast of the game after full time that he was impressed with the 24-year-old's display.

He said: "He had his best game in a Leeds shirt for me. He was a tower of strength, his work rate, he was tremendous."

Doukara's performance was not as faultless as Beagrie suggests, losing possession on 22 occasions.

First choice striker Chris Wood, out injured, has done so more times in a game in four matches this season, with the highest number by any striker in the Championship this season committed by Sheffield Wednesday's Atdhe Nuhiu and Bristol City's Luke Freeman, with 30.

22 is still a high number, illustrating that Doukara can still be erratic in his play, but his effort could not be faulted, and offensively he offered a lot more than the disappointing Mirco Antenucci, who was substituted for Lee Erwin.

At the very least, he came closer than any Leeds player did to scoring, and at present is their biggest threat while Wood remains out of action.
