Former Leeds United and Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler said on the BBC Radio 5 live 606 show on Sunday evening (February 14) that the Manchester United managerial job would be more attractive than the Tottenham Hotspur job to Mauricio Pochettino.
Pochettino was appointed the Tottenham head coach in the summer of 2014 and has a contract until June 2019.
According to The London Evening Standard, both Chelsea and United have long-term interest in Pochettino.
“It’s a tough one,” said Fowler when asked if the United job is more attractive than the Spurs job for Pochettino on the BBC Radio 5 live 606 show on Sunday evening (February 14). “It probably is, I think to be honest, because of Manchester United, who they are in the game, what they are about, one of the biggest worlds in world football."
When asked what if one takes away the history of the club (United), the former England international said: “No, no, of course not. Tottenham are certainly playing better.
“If you are an alien and have just come down and landed, I think you would chose Tottenham over Man United.”
Tottenham finished fifth in the Premier League last season and could win the title this campaign. However, United are a bigger club than Spurs, and managing the Red Devils would be an honour for anyone.
If United come calling in the summer, then it would be hard for Pochettino to turn it down, although perhaps he should remain at White Hart Lane and continue his great work at the North London club.
