Paul Lambert says Remi Garde is doing brilliantly at Aston Villa

Aston Villa manager Remi Garde has only won two Premier League matches since being appointed.

Former Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has backed Remi Garde in the Birmingham Mail.

Garde took over from Tim Sherwood at Villa Park, and he has failed to take the Midlands side away from danger.

The Claret and Blues have struggled to pick up wins, and they lost their most recent fixture 6-0 against Liverpool.

The defeat was a highly damaging one, but Lambert still believes that Garde is doing a great job.

“Remi Garde probably looks the way I felt. He’s under so much pressure there,” Lambert said.

“To be fair to him though he’s handled it brilliantly. He will know what is going on behind the scenes.”

There have been reports in the Daily Mail suggesting that Garde is considering his future at Villa already.

The French boss was unable to make one signing in the January transfer window, and Villa’s failure to invest seems to have been costly.

Villa are now eight points adrift of safety, and only a remarkable improvement will stop them from having to play Championship football next season.

Villa’s next match comes in two weekends’ time, against Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium.
