Middlesbrough spurned a chance to go top of the table by drawing 0-0 with Leeds United at Elland Road.
Striker Jordan Rhodes was making his first start for the club, and came close to breaking the deadlock on a number of occasions.
He had two headed chances late in the second half which were narrowly off target, while he shot straight at Marco Silvestri when through on goal, displaying a lack of composure when he had more time.
In Rhodes' defence, he did have the ball in the back of the net in the first half, only to see the goal disallowed.
Rhodes should have done better with the chances he had, but he also needs better or more consistent service than he received, and playing up front on his own may not be the best solution.
He was more open when alongside David Nugent late on, and manager Aitor Karanka may have to revisit how he lines the team up for their next fixture, considering the side are now five league games without a win.
Middlesbrough fans went relatively easy on Rhodes after the game, disappointed but not angry, more frustrated with the result. The £13 million striker will get time, but he can't have too many more nights like last night.
Here is a look at the reaction to his display...
If we are going to play Rhodes, it needs to be in a 442...— sarah (@sarahluciax) February 15, 2016
Nightmare to lose Clayton & Gibson #boro
Ramirez is looking good but Rhodes is looking too isolated on his own up there #utb— Neil Grainger (@GraingerNeil) February 15, 2016
Rhodes would have buried that playing for Blackburn.— SpiritOfTeesside (@Viva_Karanka) February 15, 2016
