Leeds midfielder makes a bold claim after Middlesbrough draw

Leeds United played out a goalless draw with Middlesbrough in the Championship on Monday evening.

Leeds United midfielder Toumani Diagouraga has told Sky Sports that he and his teammates are capable of beating anyone in the Championship.

Diagouraga made the comments following a goalless draw with Middlesbrough at Elland Road in the league on Monday evening.

“We knew before the game that we are good enough to beat anyone in this league, and we showed tonight that when we are on it we can beat anyone,” the 28-year-old told Sky Sports. “I think we could have won it (the match).”

Diagouraga, who joined Leeds from Championship rivals Brentford in the January transfer window, may be confident, but his bold claim is not going to fool anyone.

True, the West Yorkshire outfit earned a point against arguably the best team in the Championship on Monday evening, but they are far from a side who can make claims of being good enough to beat anyone.

There is a reason why Steve Evans’s side are 16th in the Championship table at the moment, and the reason is that they are not very good. Leeds have a decent team that can push for a top-10 finish, but that's just about it.

The Whites will return to action this Saturday afternoon when they take on Premier League outfit Watford away from home at Vicarage Road in the fifth round of the FA Cup.
