Toumani Diagouraga produced a man-of-the-match display for Leeds United against Middlesbrough.
Toumani Diagouraga was awarded man-of-the-match for his display for Leeds United against Middlesbrough, a game the Whites could easily have won.
Leeds had been undone in their previous home encounter against Nottingham Forest, yet held firm against promotion chasing Boro, who are now five games without a victory.
Diagouraga was key in offering protection to the back four, working well alongside Sunderland loanee Liam Bridcutt.
The midfielder was effective in possession, winning the ball back for his side and giving the Whites a platform to push forward.
Head coach Steve Evans pushed hard to sign Diagouraga from Brentford, and the early signs are that he was worth it. If Leeds can secure Bridcutt on a permanent deal in the summer then they have a duo around which they can build around next season.
Not all of the signings Leeds have made in the past two years have worked out, the cameo appearance from Lee Erwin late on underlined this, but Diagouraga could be an absolute gem, and fans should be encouraged the club had the foresight and the pull to bring him in.

Leeds sit in 16th place in the Championship, if they can perform the way they did against Watford on a consistent basis then they have a strong chance of climbing up the table.
