Tottenham Hotspur are flying high and look like they are there to stay.
Spurs are enjoying a wonderful campaign and are still on for an unlikely but possible treble given their current position in the Premier League and their continued presence in the Europa League and the FA Cup.
After such success it is no surprise that Pochettino has been linked with other clubs, most notably Manchester United given the ongoing pressure on Louis van Gaal, but Mabbutt has dismissed the possibility of the Argentine moving on any time soon.
“Those people saying he might get tempted away, I would say to them when was the last time Tottenham had a very good chance of winning the title,” Mabbutt told the Standard.
“I’m sure he sees this squad of players and what is happening at Tottenham on and off the field and realises these are very exciting times for the club.”
They certainly are, and perhaps the most exciting thing of all is the fact that Tottenham have some of the most exciting young players in the country not only in their academy but playing week in, week out for the first-team.
Dele Alli, Eric Dier, Harry Kane et al are going to form the bedrock for both club and country for the next decade so if they are this good already, just imagine what could happen if everyone – players and manager alike – stay for the long haul.
