The Brazilian has started to show his best form for the Reds over the last month.
The Brazilian had initially struggled to impress at Anfield since a big money move from Hoffenheim in the summer, with a series of disappointing displays for the Reds.
He has come into his own over the last month or so though, improving his performances considerably and even being named the PFA Player of the Month for January.
One who has been impressed is Charlie Nicholas, who says he could become as good as midfielder Philippe Coutinho for the side in future.
“I’m still not sure Klopp knows where he’s going to play him,” he told Soccer Saturday.
“He’s not as good as Coutinho, but on the ball he’s very gifted and he’s very much a Liverpool type player.”
“I’m still not sure whether Klopp has got the right position for him, but I think he could be as good as Coutinho. I like him a lot.”
Whether Firmino becomes as vital to the side as Coutinho has will likely depend on where he is played in the side.
He has flourished in a central role in recent weeks but may find himself pushed back out into a wide role now that Coutinho is fit again, with the number ten role in the side very much his.
He previously struggled in that position earlier in the season, and it will be interesting to see if he can maintain his form when he is likely put back there in the coming weeks.
