Divock Origi on feeling the love from Liverpool fans against Aston Villa

Origi received the affections of one particular Liverpool supporter at the weekend after he found the net against Aston Villa.

Liverpool striker Divock Origi said he felt the love after scoring the Reds' fourth goal during their 6-0 win over Aston Villa on Sunday.

Origi celebrated his goal among the Liverpool supporters and was photographed being heartily kissed by a supporter who seemed firmly in the spirit of Valentine's Day.

The Belgian told the official Liverpool website: “Let’s say he was emotional! I could feel the love, definitely.

“I turned and the first thing I saw was the fans. They were so happy and I wanted to celebrate with them.

“I think maybe on Valentine’s Day they were a little bit more emotional so I had some kisses, but it was nice to see.

“I think the supporters of Liverpool are very passionate and for us to be able to give something back to them is wonderful. I think it’s a big plus for the club also.”

Images of Origi being kissed were widely shared on social media after he scored his fifth goal of the season following his return from injury. If Liverpool and Origi continue in the same kind of goalscoring vein between now and the end of the season, it may not just be Valentine's Day when he receives such affection from that particular fan.

It was probably a little unexpected for the 20-year-old, and one wonders whether he will think twice before celebrating among the fans if he continues his goalscoring exploits.

When people have spoken about Liverpool fan's being passionate, it's usually for trying to make some noise in the stands. Origi felt that passion in a different way at the weekend.
