Quoted by London24, the agent of Simone Zaza has confirmed that there was interest in the Juventus striker during the January transfer window.
The agent, Christian Maifredi, said: “There were expressions of interest from Premier League clubs in January. There was interest, but nothing more. There was never a real possibility of Zaza moving away from Juventus, that wasn’t what he wanted or what the club wanted.”
Zaza has endured a tough season wit Juve, and it was believed that he was looking for a move away from the club in January to ensure playing time in the second half of the season.
He wants to be playing every week to ensure his chances of being called up to the Italy squad for the Euros this summer, but no move came about.
However, this was not down to a lack of interest in him.
His agent has confirmed that Premier League clubs wanted the striker, 24, in January, having seen three clubs in particular linked to him last month.
Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla claimed that West Ham, Crystal Palace and Watford were all making offers for Zaza, but no deal could be agreed.
Maifredi has now made it clear that Zaza did not want to leave Spurs, nor did Juve have any plans to sell him last month.
There are no indications as to whether West Ham, Palace or Watford will renew their interest in Zaza in the summer transfer window.
