Aston Villa were beaten 6-0 by Liverpool in their most recent outing.
Villa were beaten 6-0 by the Reds in their most recent outing and they showed a shocking lack of fight for a side who should have been battling for their Premier League lives.
Villa seemed to just give in after Liverpool took a two-goal lead in the first half, and Jurgen Klopp’s side picked up the three points without ever being threatened.
After the match defender Joleon Lescott further angered fans by posting a picture of a flash car on Twitter, before quickly posting that his phone had sent the message without his knowledge.
Keys was not buying the central defender’s excuse, and the pundit slammed Villa’s players and board for allowing things to have got this bad.
"What can you say about Villa? Abject. Pathetic. Awful. Embarrassing," he wrote. "If those players had any decency they'd refund long suffering Villa fans their entrance money. Or perhaps Joleon Lescott should? What on earth was he thinking when he tweeted that picture of his brand new Merc? And we're not daft Joleon - your phone didn't tweet the picture all on its own.
"I've mentioned this before. I heard some time ago that the Villa hierarchy had given up on the Premier League in the mis-guided belief that they will get straight back up next season. Not with the current lot they won't. It's more likely they'll go straight down again. They're hopeless."
Villa are currently eight points adrift of safety, and their performance against Liverpool suggested that their players were resigned to relegation.
The Claret and Blues’ next match comes against Stoke City, and they will have to make a drastic improvement to even stand a chance of competing with Mark Hughes’ side.
