Richard Keys offers hope for Newcastle fans... hints at Mike Ashley exit

St James Park Four

Could there be 'light at the end of the tunnel' for Newcastle supporters?

Richard Keys believes there could be some light at the end of the tunnel for Newcastle United fans, according to his personal blog.

Indeed, the television presenter has made a somewhat bold claim that it might not be too long before owner Mike Ashley calls it a day.

Newcastle have struggled under Ashley, suffering relegation in recent years and also spending most of the current season in the danger zone.

Two highlights for the Magpies were promotion back to the Premier League and qualifying for Europe under Alan Pardew.

Those two campaigns aside, however, there has been very little to celebrate for Ashley. But could his reign come to an end?

Keys wrote: "Newcastle aren't much better - but there could be light at the end of the tunnel for the Geordie faithful. Don't get too excited but it might not be too long now before Mike Ashley calls it a day."

Keys' claims are a little out of the blue but, should they prove true, plenty of Magpies fans certainly won't be complaining.

Newcastle have a lengthy break between now and their next game - and it's a vital time for them to sort themselves out ahead a very tricky run-in.
