Tottenham Hotspur beat Manchester City 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium yesterday.

Ossie Ardiles says that Tottenham Hotspur were deserved winners against Manchester City yesterday.

Spurs beat City 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, to confirm their status as genuine Premier League title contenders.

Tottenham are now just two points behind top of the table Leicester City, and Ardiles believes that the team spirit that the Lilywhites are showing some very encouraging signs.

Tottenham took the lead against Manchester City when Harry Kane blasted home a penalty, but they were pegged back when Kelechi Iheanacho rifled in an equaliser.

At that point Spurs could have folded, but Mauricio Pochettino’s fought back and secured the three points when Erik Lamela brilliantly set-up Christian Eriksen, who put the finishing touches on the move by tucking the ball beyond Joe Hart.

Spurs’ performance led to Dietmar Hamann, who used to play for City, suggesting that Pochettino was a magician.

Tottenham’s next match comes against Fiorentina in the Europa League on Thursday evening, before they face Crystal Palace in the FA Cup at the weekend.
