Manchester City fans blast Raheem Sterling's performance, predict his future under Guardiola

Manchester City fans believe Raheem Sterling has gone backwards since signing from Liverpool.

Manchester City are fading out of the title race after a 2-1 home defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, leaving them in fourth place.

City, who were hammered 3-1 at home by Leicester City last weekend, had to respond against Spurs, having seen Arsenal beat Leicester 2-1 earlier in the day.

However, City again looked sluggish against a relentless Spurs side, and they took the lead as Harry Kane converted from the penalty spot after Raheem Sterling had been adjudged to have handled inside the penalty area.

City did hit back as substitute Kelechi Iheanacho enhanced his reputation yet again with a fine finish for the equaliser, but Christian Eriksen's late winner gave Tottenham all three points, meaning City remain six points off top spot.

After the game, City fans took to Twitter to react to the performance, and directed much of their frustration in Raheem Sterling's direction.

The summer signing from Liverpool had a torrid afternoon, giving away the penalty for the opening goal - albeit harshly - and having little to no impact in the final third as he continues to underwhelm at the Etihad Stadium.

The England international has notched just one goal and one assist in the Premier League since scoring a hat-trick against Bournemouth in the middle of October, and fans are wondering just what has happened to the player who impressed so much at Liverpool.

Some fans believe that Iheanacho should be given more first-team football right now, and even think that Sterling may not have a future under Pep Guardiola when the new manager arrives this summer.

Here are some of the reactions from City fans on Twitter after Sterling's performance against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday...
