Jamie Redknapp has given his thoughts on Arsenal's win over Leicester.

Jamie Redknapp has told The Mail he felt Alexis Sanchez's performance for Arsenal against Leicester was one of his worst games for the club.

The Chilean international was not involved prominently in either goal but played all 90 minutes as the Gunners won 2-1.

Redknapp singled out Sanchez to illustrate how the Gunners were below par, even though they recorded a vital win over one of their title rivals.

"They were far from their best — Alexis Sanchez had one of his worst games in an Arsenal shirt — but the result closes the gap.

"Danny Welbeck’s return is also a huge boost. He and Theo Walcott both came off the bench to score, which shows the strength of Arsenal’s squad. They might not have the best XI of the title contenders but the strength of their squad could be crucial."

Sanchez made 101 touches, one of only four Arsenal players to reach triple figures along with Aaron Ramsey, Mesut Ozil, and Nacho Monreal.

One area he was really disappointing was his shooting. Sanchez had six shots at goal, but failed to hit the target with any. To his credit, he completed 89 per cent of his passes, and created two goalscoring opportunities.

If any player deserves a pass for their display against Leicester, it is Sanchez, who netted a game changing hat-trick away to the Foxes earlier in the season, and the Gunners can take solace in that the South American has plenty more to contribute between now and the end of the season.
