Tottenham Hotspur beat Manchester City 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium yesterday.
Toure and Dembele were in direct competition at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, and it was the Belgian international who came out on top.
While Toure was languishing, Dembele was inspiring his Spurs side to a 2-1 win - and Carragher had nothing but praise for the central midfielder’s display after the match.
"Dembele got man of the match and he looked like Yaya Toure from four or five years ago at times today," he said. "But it wasn't easy to choose because every Spurs player was eight out of 10."
Dembele has been in wonderful form of late, and he was recently rewarded with a new long-term contract at White Hart Lane.
The 28-year-old has been pivotal to Spurs this campaign, and he showed his class against City.
In what was a fiercely contested match, Dembele always seemed to have time on the ball, and he offered great protection to his side’s defenders.
Tottenham picked up their victory over City thanks to goals from Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen, and they are now just two points behind Leicester City, who currently top the Premier League table.
