Jamie Carragher compares Aston Villa to Mick McCarthy's Sunderland side on Twitter

The Sky Sports pundit believes this Villa side is even worse than that woeful Sunderland outfit.

Jamie Carragher is standing by his claim that Aston Villa's current side is the worst in Premier League history.

Indeed, taking to Twitter after Villa's 6-0 loss to Liverpool, Carragher responded to comments about Mick McCarthy's Sunderland side and the Derby County team that finished bottom in 2007/08.

And the pundit is sticking to his guns - suggesting Aston Villa's dreadful performance against the Reds makes them worse than McCarthy's infamous Sunderland outfit and a Derby side that was doomed from the start.

Aston Villa remain eight points off safety after their 6-0 drubbing and are seven points behind the current Sunderland side.

While the Black Cats were beating Manchester United and Norwich City earning a point against West Ham, Newcastle United were battered 5-1 by Chelsea and Villa produced their horror show against Liverpool.

It's becoming clear who at least wants to fight for their Premier League status and who doesn't...
