Erik Sviatchenko does not regret not playing against Manchester United in the Europa League this week.

Celtic defender Erik Sviatchenko has told The Daily Record that he does not have any regret about not playing against Manchester United this week.

The 24-year-old centre-back joined Celtic from FC Midtjylland in the January transfer window.

Had Sviatchenko remained at Midtjylland, he could have been playing against Premier League giants United on Thursday evening.

The Danish outfit will take on the Red Devils in the first leg of the round of 32 tie of the Europa League at home.

Sviatchenko, though, does not regret signing for Celtic in the middle of the season and missing out on playing against United.

“No, I’ve not thought for any second about that game,” the Denmark international told The Daily Record when asked if he had any pang of regrets about the game against United.

“I’m just happy for my former teammates that they will play that big game. It’s a huge game for Midtjylland but I’m here enjoying Paradise.”

Celtic are at the top of the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 58 points from 25 matches.

Ronny Deila’s side are three points clear of Aberdeen, who are currently second in the standings and are the Hoops’ only title rivals this season.

The Bhoys will return to action next weekend when they take on Inverness Caledonian Thistle at Celtic Park in the Scottish Premiership.
