Tony Cascarino explains his Manchester City v Tottenham prediction, raves about Mr Reliable

Manchester City will face Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League today.

Former Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino has predicted in The Times that Tottenham Hotspur will win against Manchester City.

City will take on Tottenham at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League on Sunday evening.

Cascarino, who also played for Aston Villa and Celtic, has backed Spurs to pick up all three points from the encounter.

“I think Tottenham will win,” the former Republic of Ireland wrote in The Times. “City are not an athletic team, in contrast to their well-drilled opponents.”

Cascarino has also spoken highly of Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld.

“Alderweireld has become Mr Reliable in the centre of the Tottenham defence,” wrote the former Millwall striker. “He is very good on the ball, decent in the air and effective at set pieces.”

Alderweireld is one of the best central defenders in the Premier League at the moment, and he will be a key player in today’s game.

The 26-year-old Belgium international has scored two goals and created five chances in 25 league matches so far this season.

The former Ajax star has a pass accuracy of 81% and a shot accuracy of 43%, and has won 43 headers, five dribbles and 17 tackles.

City are fourth in the Premier League table at the moment with 47 points from 25 matches. Manuel Pellegrini’s side are a point behind second-placed Tottenham, who are five points behind leaders Leicester City.
