The ex-Tottenham Hotspur player was pleased with their latest win.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side went into the match having seen Premier League leaders Leicester City drop three points against Arsenal earlier in the day, and they took full advantage by overcoming Manuel Pellegrini’s men with a late winner.
Harry Kane opened the scoring for Tottenham but City youngster Kelechi Iheanacho furthered his reputation as a super sub by equalising with just 16 minutes of normal-time remaining.
However, Danish international Christian Eriksen proved to be the hero – or at least one of them – when he scored what proved to be the winner in the 83rd-minute.
Tottenham also had goalkeeper Hugo Lloris to thank after he showed his courage to keep City out late on.
Soldado remains a fan favourite at White Hart Lane despite his failure to replicate his best form in North London, and he clearly keeps a very close eye on his former club.
Writing on social media on Sunday, the Spaniard said, “Well done boys. Congratulations and happy birthday Christian Eriksen.”
