Remi Garde's response when asked what he will tell Villa's players after latest defeat

Aston Villa

Aston Villa were beaten 6-0 by Liverpool earlier today.

Remi Garde has told Aston Villa’s official website that he will not go and read the riot act to his squad, despite their terrible performance against Liverpool.

Villa were beaten 6-0 by the Reds earlier today, leaving them eight points adrift of safety with time running out.

The Claret and Blues showed an alarming lack of fight throughout the contest, but Garde insisted that he would not be too hard on his team, when asked what he intended to say to his players following the full-time whistle.

“It's three points thrown away - not more,” he said.

“Of course, it's six goals conceded and very painful. But if we'd lost 1-0, the consequence would be quite the same.

“We don't have time to moan too much about this and that.

“We must concentrate on the next game and try to win it, that's it.”

Villa’s defeat to Liverpool was arguably the most humiliating point of a season which has been nothing short of disastrous so far.

The Villas have won just three of their first 26 Premier League matches, and they looked bereft of quality and confidence throughout.

Villa folded this afternoon, leaving the atmosphere around Villa Park toxic as the goals continued to crash in.

Villa’s defeat has destroyed any momentum they had picked up from a win over Norwich City last weekend, and they are surely doomed for relegation now.
