Middlesbrough defender Ritchie De Laet has revealed on the club’s official website what his teammates have been telling him about Leeds United.
De Laet, who joined Middlesbrough on loan from Premier League side Leicester City in the January transfer window, has shared what his teammates have been telling him about the significance of the match.
“I’ve heard from the lads this is a pretty big game for the fans, but for us this is the next opportunity to get three points,” the 27-year-old told Middlesbrough’s official website.
“It is important to give something back to the fans after what we thought were two disappointing results, even though we are top of the table.”
Middlesbrough are second in the Championship table at the moment with 57 points from 29 matches. Aitor Karanka’s side are two points behind leaders Hull City, but they have a game in hand.
Boro will be favourites to win against Leeds, who are in the bottom half of the table and appear to be out of the running for a top-six finish.
However, the West Yorkshire outfit will be hard to beat, especially as they will have home advantage.
Leeds will head into the game against Boro on the back of a 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest at Elland Road in the league.
