Faustino Asprilla reacts on Twitter after Newcastle's 5-1 defeat, rips into McClaren

Newcastle lost 5-1 to Chelsea on Saturday evening - and club hero Faustino Asprilla was far from happy.

Newcastle United's relegation battle took a major blow as they were hammered 5-1 away at Chelsea on Saturday evening.

The Magpies were on a high after beating West Brom 1-0 last weekend, and they had sneaked out of the relegation zone by one point - but are back in the bottom three after a thumping at Stamford Bridge.

Goals from Diego Costa, Willian, Bertrand Traore and two from Pedro had put Chelsea 5-0 up, before Newcastle pulled a goal back through new signing Andros Townsend.

It was another disastrous display from Newcastle, who were slow and sloppy at the back, committing a host of errors as Chelsea ran riot in the first half.

During the game, club hero Faustino Asprilla took to Twitter to have his say on matters - and it's fair to say that the Colombian was far from impressed.

Asprilla asked how Newcastle can really expect to avoid relegation if they continue to serve up such terrible displays, before ripping into manager Steve McClaren.

Asprilla blasted McClaren's tactics, suggesting that he doesn't know the players well enough to pick the right formation - and many Newcastle fans will have asked the same questions after another terrible result on Saturday evening.
