Don Hutchison’s one-word response to Steve McClaren’s survival claim

Newcastle United are in danger of getting relegated from the Premier League.

Former Sunderland midfielder Don Hutchison has suggested on social networking site Twitter that Newcastle United will get relegated from the Premier League at the end of the season.

Following the 5-1 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening, Newcastle head coach Steve McClaren said that he is confident that the Magpies will not go down.

“We know when everybody is fit we have a good squad,” The Chronicle quoted McClaren as saying. “We know we can win games.”

Hutchison, who played for Sunderland, West Ham United and Liverpool among other clubs, does not share the Newcastle boss’s confidence.

Newcastle are third from bottom in the Premier League table at the moment with 24 points from 26 matches.

The Magpies are level on points with 17th-placed Norwich City, but they have a worse goal difference.

McClaren is under pressure, but he does have some good players who can see the team out of trouble.

Winning against Chelsea was always going to be tough, but the manner in which Newcastle lost does raise some questions.
