Trevor Sinclair reacts to Sunderland win on Twitter; hails Sam Allardyce

Sam Allardyce Press Conference Disappointed 12/02/2014

Sunderland defeated Manchester United 2-1.

Former West Ham United player Trevor Sinclair hailed Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce on social networking site Twitter following his side’s 2-1 over Manchester United.

Goals from new signings Wahbi Khazri and Lamine Kone either side of Anthony Martial’s equaliser gave the hosts a huge victory in their bid to preserve their Premier League status this month.

And the manner of their victory was very much Allardyce-esque – not particularly pretty, but extremely effective as both goals came via set-piece situations which United were powerless to stop.

Writing on Twitter after the game, Sinclair praised the atmosphere at the Stadium of Light and indicated how Sunderland boss Allardyce delivers exactly what he intends to do.

Allardyce joined the Black Cats in October following Dick Advocaat’s resignation, and he will be the first to admit that despite improvements, results still haven’t been good enough.

But since the turn of the New Year, things have looked brighter for the Wearside club and good January transfer additions have given the club a real lift in their fight for survival.

Recent performances against Manchester City and Liverpool have been good, and Allardyce’s side were finally rewarded for their efforts as they deservedly took all three points against United.

The situation still doesn’t paint a pretty picture, but the victory takes Sunderland momentarily above Norwich City and to within one point of Newcastle United and safety.
