Thierry Henry said on the Sky Sports Now show on Sky Sports News HQ on Friday morning (broadcast time 10:15am, February 12) that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is not doing enough for Arsenal.
“Is Oxlade-Chamberlain doing enough? I personally don’t think so,” said the Arsenal legend. “I think that he is a talent, no doubt about it.
“He plays for England, he is at Arsenal for a reason, but I think he didn’t put a stamp on the team saying ‘this is my position’. You need to want it.”
Oxlade-Chamberlain has been on the books of Arsenal since 2011 and has a contract until June 2018.
The 22-year-old, who can play as a winger or as a central midfielder, is a very promising young player, but he has yet to establish himself in the Gunners’ starting lineup.
The England international has scored one goal and created 16 chances in 21 Premier League games for Arsenal so far this season.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has a pass accuracy of 83% and a shot accuracy of 38%, and has won seven headers, 31 dribbles and 16 tackles.
Arsenal are third in the Premier League table at the moment with 48 points from 25 matches, five points behind leaders Leicester City.
The Gunners will take on Leicester at the Emirates Stadium in North London in the league on Sunday afternoon.
