The England international has been an impressive convert this season.
This week has seen plenty of Sky Sports pundits asked to pick their best XI from the Premier League's current top four - as the teams in the Champions League positions all face each other in the Premier League on Sunday.
Nicholas is such a fan of the player, he thinks that Dier will be the key man as Spurs take on Manchester City in a Premier League title clash this weekend, telling Sky Sports:
"My holding midfielder would be Eric Dier.
"He's calm on the ball, never in a rush, and can get physical and upset the fluency of the game when he needs to.
"He will be the most important Spurs player against City on Sunday."
Dier, who scored a fantastic strike at White Hart Lane in the other fixture between these two sides earlier in the season, will no doubt be a massive influence on the game between the two title challengers on Sunday.
If he can help dominate the midfield for Spurs this weekend then Tottenham might very well move into pole position to challenge Leicester City for the Premier League title.
