Speaking with former Liverpool teammate Jamie Carragher, Suarez insists he is looking to remain at the Nou Camp for many more years but still holds Anfield close to his heart.
“I’d prefer to stay here for many more years. I know it doesn’t always turn out that way. But if I had to return to the Premier League, I would only go to Liverpool. I wouldn’t go to another team. It wouldn’t be a move for money,” Suarez explained.
Suarez joined Liverpool from Ajax in January 2011, immediately striking a chord with the supporters due to his effort, energy levels and undoubted ability both on and off the ball.
The Uruguay international soon became recognised as one of the Premier League’s best and arguably among Liverpool’s greatest ever players, scoring 69 league goals in 110 appearances.
He shone at Anfield during the Reds’ title challenge in 2013/14, notching 31 goals and attracting the interest of Barcelona who paid heavily for his services after the World Cup in Brazil.
The 29-year-old may have a controversial side to his personality, yet there is no denying his ability and Liverpool have subsequently suffered since his move to the Nou Camp.
The chances of Suarez moving back to Liverpool, however, are now pretty slim as Barcelona are seeing the best of a complete striker entering the prime of his career.
Playing alongside Lionel Messi and Neymar, the former Kop hero has 61 goals in all competitions for the Catalan side and helped Barca win an unmatched five trophies throughout 2015.
