The Reds have struggled to impress this season and currently sit ninth in the table.
The Reds are currently ninth in the Premier League table, and four points away for West Ham United in sixth.
Even more worryingly they are a huge 12 points behind Manchester City in fourth place, making a place in the Champions League next season look extremely unlikely with 13 games left to go.
Last time around they managed to surrender a 2-0 lead to Sunderland late on, as they once again put in a disappointing defensive display.
Some have credited that with tiredness; given Klopp’s side have had a busy year competing in the league, FA Cup, League Cup and Europe League. Can though, says that cannot be used an excuse for their disappointing displays.
"Of course sometimes you are tired and everything," he told Sky Sports.
“But I think the most important thing is the mentality - if you say you are fit and want to go, then you can go every game.”
"Every team has a lot of games and I think that is no reason why we are where we are in the table. It is not what we want. But there is a long time to go and we have to keep it up and see what happens at the end of the season."
The Reds will now be hoping that their FA Cup exit this week can alleviate the fixture congestion and help them push for a top six place this season.
It is certainly within their grasp; with the four point gap between them and the Hammers one that is not an insurmountable one by any stretch of the imagination.
