Could Leeds United make signings in the loan window?

Leeds United head coach Steve Evans has told LUTV that he will not discuss signing players during the loan window.

Evans has suggested that he wants to sign players quietly and without giving away too much to the media.

The Scot has given the example of signing midfielder Toumani Diagouraga from Championship rivals Brentford in the January transfer window as the ideal way to recruit players.

“I think the best way I can say is when Toumani joined us,” Evans told LUTV when asked about any plans to sign anybody during the loan window.

“No one knew about it probably until within a couple of hours of putting pen to paper. What I am going to do is talk nothing about players coming in. Let people work hard below the surface.”

Leeds are 16th in the Championship table at the moment with 36 points from 30 matches. The West Yorkshire outfit are 14 points behind sixth-placed Sheffield Wednesday and 11 points above the relegation zone.

The Whites will return to action on Monday evening when they take on automatic promotion contenders Middlesbrough at Elland Road in the Championship.

Leeds are unlikely to finish in the top six of the Championship this season, and they appear to be safe from relegation to League One. It seems that the Whites’ season is virtually over, although they are still in the FA Cup.
