Leeds United will face Middlesbrough at Elland Road in the Championship on Monday evening.

Leeds United head coach Steve Evans has named on the club’s official website four Middlesbrough players who are special.

The West Yorkshire outfit will take on Middlesbrough at Elland Road in the Championship on Monday evening.

Evans has named Grant Leadbitter, Adam Clayton, Jordan Rhodes and Stewart Downing as four Boro players who are special.

“Middlesbrough have some outstanding footballers, but so do we,” the Scot told Leeds’s official website. “We need the passion and the performance and we need to grind teams down, not giving them a minute. That’s got to be the plan.

“People like Downing, Rhodes, Leadbitter and Clayton are special players - they’re top level players, but we have a point to prove.”

Evans has also urged the Leeds fans to get behind the team and give their full support during the match.

“We also have a point to prove off the pitch,” said the former Rotherham United boss. “Let’s get the atmosphere humdinging at Elland Road.

“Middlesbrough are bringing a sell-out support and there’ll be a good Leeds United presence as there always is at Elland Road. We want to have one of those everything where we get it right on and off the pitch.”

Leeds will head into the match against Middlesbrough on the back of a 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest at Elland Road in the Championship.

The Whites’ form in recent weeks have been disappointing, and a top-six finish look beyond them.

The West Yorkshire outfit are 16th in the Championship table at the moment with 36 points from 30 matches, 14 points behind sixth-placed Sheffield Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Middlesbrough currently find themselves at the top of the league table with 57 points from 29 matches, a point ahead of second-placed Hull City.
