Sheffield Wednesday ace Daniel Pudil not looking too far forward

Sheffield Wednesday ace want to take their promotion challenge one step at a time.

Sheffield Wednesday star Daniel Pudil has told the club's official website he is not getting carried away with promotion talk.

The on loan Watford defender insists the team are taking it one game at a time, and not buying into the hype around them.

Wednesday secured an impressive 2-1 win over an in form Birmingham side last weekend, maintaining their position at sixth in the Championship table.

The Owls face Brentford this weekend, and Pudil insists this match is the team's primary focus rather than looking too far ahead.

He said: "It was a great weekend for us last week but nothing has changed for us.

“We are taking it game by game as we have done and we are focused for the next one which is against Brentford.

“We have to make sure we win this and then we will see what’s going on."

There are 16 games to go and Wednesday are in a strong position in the table. While on the edge of the play-offs, they are just six points off the automatic play-off places, and a good run of form could see them sneak into the top two.

Wednesday have won four of their last six games and been beaten only twice in their last 10, a feat matched only by Middlesbrough and Burnley of the sides around them.

This weekend's opponents Brentford are in 12th place in the table, and have won just one of their last six matches.
