The Black Cats have improved of late, coming back from a recent two-goal deficit at Liverpool to draw 2-2 in a game which could prove a catalyst for their subsequent survival hopes.
That said, United have also picked up of late despite being held to a 1-1 draw at Chelsea, and Savage feels they will have too much pace on the counter for Sam Allardyce’s men.
“Sunderland got a couple of late goals at Anfield to draw 2-2, but I just think United with the pace of Lingaard and Martial will win. Both teams to score, United away win,” Savage predicted on William Hill Betting.
Sunderland currently find themselves deep in the relegation mire, sitting in 19th position in the Premier League table and some four points of North East rivals Newcastle United and safety.
Performances have been much better for Allardyce’s side, but they’ve struggled to score goals at certain times and with just 13 in their last 12 home games they could be restricted against United.
After a run of games against Manchester City, Liverpool and now United, the Wearside club do arguably have the more favourable run-in compared to their fellow relegation rivals.
Leicester City came back from a more daunting position this time last season, suggesting all is not lost for Sunderland though they may now need to string together a run of successive victories.
