HITC Sport understands Coventry defender is set for League Two loan switch.
Coventry City defender Ryan Haynes has agreed a deal to join League Two Cambridge United on loan, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Haynes, who made his debut way back in April 2013 as a 17-year-old, really came to the fore last season under former Sky Blues boss Steven Pressley with a number of eye-catching performances at full-back.
The 20-year-old made 31 appearances in all competitions last season and his form brought him to the attention of several Premier League clubs.
However, this season Haynes has struggled to nail down a regular spot in the starting XI under Tony Mowbray, making just 11 appearances so far this term.
Coventry chief Mowbray is happy to let Haynes go out on loan to get some valuable first-team action under his belt with Chris Stokes the current first-choice at left-back.
A number of clubs are understood to have shown interest in Haynes, but Cambridge have moved quickly to agree a deal for the attacking full-back.
Cambridge boss Shaun Derry is thought to be a big fan of Haynes and sees him as an ideal addition to his squad as he looks to maintain their push for a place in the play-offs.
