Villa will take on Liverpool at Villa Park in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
“Villa kept their faint survival dreams alive with a 2-0 defeat of Norwich, while Liverpool’s Champions League hopes took another hammer blow when they threw away a 2-0 lead at home to Sunderland on Saturday,” former Liverpool striker Owen wrote on Colossusbets.com. “Liverpool are just too inconsistent to trust at the moment and it’s another 1-1 for me.”
Villa are at the foot of the Premier League table at the moment with 16 points from 25 matches. The Villans are eight points behind 17th-placed Newcastle United and are in real danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.
Remi Garde’s side, though, have picked up some positive results recently, including a 2-0 victory over fellow relegation candidates Norwich City at Villa Park last weekend.
Meanwhile, Liverpool currently find themselves ninth in the Premier League table with 35 points from 25 matches.
The Reds are as many as 12 points behind fourth-placed Manchester City and appear to be out of the running for a Champions League spot.
