West Ham booked their place in the fifth round of the prestigious cup competition in midweek with victory over Liverpool.
“There is no doubt the squad is capable, and after knocking Liverpool out, it will give the team a real belief they can now go on and defeat the big boys,” the former West Ham wrote on London24.com.
“With Wembley only two games away and the likes of Lanzini and Sakho ready to come back into the fold, there has never been a better chance of winning the competition in my opinion.
“The Irons are loving life and with a trip to Blackburn fast approaching there is a real belief that West Ham can actually do it. They can finally end the 36 year wait for a trophy, put to bed the demons of 2006 and go on to win the FA Cup.”
West Ham have a good squad, but one should not get carried away with the Hammers’ chances of winning the FA Cup this season.
After all, there is a long way to go in the competition, and winning against Blackburn Rovers away from home at Ewood Park in the fifth round of the FA Cup will not be easy.
Slaven Bilic’s side, though, should field his best available team against Blackburn and try to win the game.
A top-four finish in unlikely for the Hammers, but a spot in the top 10 looks certain. West Ham are probably aiming to end up in the top six, but they can do by that playing their best players in the FA Cup.
