Aston Villa v Liverpool predicted line-ups, match preview

Aston Villa host Liverpool where both sides will be desperate to record a win this weekend.

To be played on Sunday 14th February 2016 at 14:05. Venue: Villa Park, Birmingham

Odds: Aston Villa 7/2, Draw 5/2, Liverpool 17/20

There have been flickers of life at Villa Park in recent weeks, even if their league position does remain dire they are managing to pick up a point or three here or there.

Last week was a big win for them to have any hope of survival as they moved to within eight points of safety. It's still a big ask, but they're now in single figures when it comes to scrapping for their survival.

This weekend they host a Liverpool side that has been indifferent to say the least. Currently ninth in the division, struggling for consistency - only winning the one league game this, as they threw away a two goal lead to Sunderland last week - but in a cup final at the end of the month, it feels a bit weird at Anfield.

However, injuries to their attacking players which has held them back for much of the season have shown signs of subsiding. Daniel Sturridge, Philippe Coutinho and Divock Origi all returned to the side in the midweek FA Cup defeat to West Ham - which gives the Reds the first opportunity to field a side that contains Coutinho, Sturridge and Roberto Firmino for the first time - undoubtedly the three biggest attacking threats at Jurgen Klopp's disposal right now.

As a result it means the Liverpool side is a little harder to predict for this weekend's encounter.

“It’s not coincidence we are ninth and Aston Villa are bottom, and we have to use it. That’s how you prepare a game. It’s not our thing to think about what Villa’s target is for this game, we have to be strong and do everything to reach our own targets. Pr”
