Anthony Limbombe's position at NEC reportedly untenable beyond this season

The reported Leeds United target could well move on in the summer.

Dutch website SoccerNews has claimed that Anthony Limbombe’s continuing good performances for NEC Nijmegen will make his position at the club untenable beyond the summer.

The 21-year-old left winger was the subject of a £1million bid from Leeds United in January according to a report from the Yorkshire Post, and if the Whites really are interested the latest claims will no doubt pique their interest.

Limbombe has scored six goals and provided six assists in 22 appearances for NEC this season and it is beginning to look like he is the winger Leeds should have gone all out to sign rather than Jordan Botaka.

The DR Congo international has fallen out of favour at Elland Road under manager Steve Evans and he will seemingly struggle to get back into the first-team fold any time soon.

There is no guarantee Limbombe would be a success if he was to move to Leeds, but his impressive form for NEC certainly speaks of better things to come.

If Leeds failed with a £1million bid last month as is being claimed it remains to be seen how much it would take to secure the 21-year-old’s services. However by the summer he will only have one year left on his deal in Holland so that will no doubt play a part in any subsequent negotiations.
