West Bromwich Albion beat Peterborough United on penalties in the FA Cup last night.
West Bromwich Albion winger James McClean has sent a message to Peterborough United midfielder Chris Forrester on Twitter, after the FA Cup tie between the two sides last night.
McClean’s West Brom required penalties to knock their spirited League One opponents out of the cup competition, after what was a fiercely contested match.
Posh upped their game to prove a real threat to Tony Pulis’ side, and could count themselves unfortunate not to have pulled off an upset.
Peterborough took the lead in the second half, but a wonderful strike from Darren Fletcher levelled the scores - and the two sides remained level for the rest of the match.
The Baggies triumphed on penalties, but Republic of Ireland international McClean was keen to praise his compatriot Forrester’s display.
The 23-year-old dictated the pace of the match from the centre of the pitch, and caught the eye of McClean.
@ChrisForrester1 quality tonight lad, going to be a top player, goodluck for the rest of the season pal— James McClean (@JamesMcC14) February 10, 2016
Forrester was only brought to Posh last summer, but he has already been compared to Michael Carrick by manager Graham Westley, while chairman Darragh MacAnthony has stated that his sale will allow Peterborough to buy their ground back.
