The Portuguese international was once tipped as one of Europe's top talents.

Nottingham Forest continued their recent good form this weekend - as Dougie Freedman's men won 1-0 at Elland Road on Saturday.

The result came courtesy of a Nelson Oliveira goal on the hour mark, the second time he has struck against Leeds this season.

The Portuguese international has been in great form this season - scoring eight goals in 24 appearances for the club.

Signed on loan from Benfica his arrival was a real coup and he has repaid the faith shown in him by Freedman and co.

He was at one point tipped to be a future superstar at Benfica but struggled in recent times to live up to his potential. In fact, he was once the subject of a massive agreement between his parent club and Russian side Zenit St Petersburg.

Desporto in Portugal is reporting that when Zenit signed Axel Witsel from Benfica in 2012 the Russian side also agreed potential fees with two other Benfica stars.

The report claims that the Russian side agreed a €20 million (£15.7 million) option for Argentine talent Nicolas Gaitan and a whopping €30 million (£23.5 million) for the current Nottingham Forest loanee.

That agreement expired in February 2013, according to the same report.

He is set to return to Benfica in the summer, as the Portuguese club have been pleased with his progress.

But this goes to show just how impressive a coup it was for Freedman and Forest to bring this player to the City Ground.
