The Leeds United defender had a match to forget last time he faced Boro.
The Italian centre-back started alongside Sol Bamba for the Whites but when the full-time whistle blew many Leeds fans wondered if that was the last they would see of Bellusci in their shirt.
To say the 26-year-old had a nightmare would be an understatement. He was terrible from beginning to end, gifting Middlesbrough one goal and putting through his own net in comical fashion as the hosts ran out 3-0 winners.
There are some Leeds fans who will never like Bellusci, but since that awful showing he has improved considerably and under manager Steve Evans he is arguably the club’s best performer.
Now playing alongside Liam Cooper, Bellusci is excelling week after week and he is regularly Leeds’ standout player, much to the chagrin of those fans who feel there is no place for him at their club.
On Monday Bellusci has the chance to redeem himself for that early-season horror show when he comes up against Middlesbrough at Elland Road.
This time the league leaders have the prolific Jordan Rhodes on their books, and if the Leeds defender can keep him at bay, along with his new teammates, the transformation may be just about complete.
