Everton striker Romelu Lukaku pinning his hopes on winning the FA Cup

Everton have managed to make it through to the fifth round of the FA Cup.

Everton forward Romelu Lukaku has told the Liverpool Echo that he is pinning his hopes on an FA Cup run.

The Toffees have made good progress in the FA Cup so far, beating League Two sides Dagenham & Redbridge and Carlisle United comfortably.

Everton are now due to face Bournemouth in the last 16 of the competiton, and Lukaku is taking the match very seriously.

"It means that in the Cup we have to go all out, 100%," Lukaku said.

“I am pinning a lot of my hopes on the FA Cup. I want to win something."

Everton have not lifted a major trophy since 1995, when they won the FA Cup.

Their 21 year wait for silverware has almost come to end already this season, but Roberto Martinez’s failed to win their League Cup semi-final against Manchester City.

The Toffees appear to have little chance of breaking into the top-four this campaign, meaning their main hope is now for a cup run.

Everton’s match against Bournemouth takes place in two weekends’ time.

When the two sides met in the Premier League at Dean Court earlier in the campaign they played out a 3-3 draw.
