West Ham United beat Liverpool 2-1 to progress to the fifth round of the FA Cup.
Ogbonna started in the heart of the Hammers’ defence, as they triumphed 2-1 over Jurgen Klopp’s side in extra time.
The former Juventus man scored a last minute winner in the contest, but Bilic says that even if Ogbonna hadn’t scored - his performance still would have been brilliant.
"I told Angelo regardless of the goal - the goal came as the cherry on the pie of his game.
"His game today was magnificent. He deserved the goal in the dying seconds of the game.”
Ogbonna’s main task in the match was to stifle Liverpool’s attacking threat, and he performed his function well, but it was his last minute header which will take the headlines.
Ogbonna’s goal for West Ham was his first for the club since he arrived last summer, and it could hardly have come in more dramatic fashion.
The 27-year-old rose the highest from a Dimitri Payet set-piece, to power the cross and send his side into the fifth round of the FA Cup.
West Ham’s next fixture in the competition comes against Championship side Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.
