Roberto Martinez coy over Everton's goalkeeping plans

Joel Robles has kept three successive clean sheets for Everton.

Roberto Martinez has refused to be drawn on whether Tim Howard will come back into Everton’s side in the Liverpool Echo.

Howard has dropped out of the Toffees first-team recently, after picking up an injury.

In his absence, Joel Robles has come into the side and impressed - keeping three clean sheets in a row.

Everton fans have now called for the Spaniard to retain his place in the starting line-up, even when Howard returns to fitness.

But Martinez would not be drawn on his future plans for who he wants to select in goal, when quizzed.

“At the moment, Tim is injured so it would be ridiculous for me to mention that,” Martinez said, when asked whether the American would come back into the team when he returns to full health.

“What we want is for Tim to be fit and Tim to be feeling himself and fighting for his position and at that moment I am sure it will be very easy to make the right call.”

Howard’s performances have been erratic this season, but Martinez has always shown great faith in the 36-year-old.

Robles so far has generally only been utilised in cup competition, but he will now be hoping to keep his place for Everton’s remaining Premier League matches.
